Two Sisters and a Hobby!
We started taking basket classes together about 15 years ago in Charles Town and Martinsburg, WV (shoutout to Shirley Snyder!). We enjoy being together and this was one way we could meet each month, learn something new, and be able to create something beautiful to display in our homes.
These special days developed into a love of basket weaving. Through the years we’ve learned new basket weaving techniques, started dyeing our own reed, and created designs that were influenced by friends and family members who wanted their own twist on some of our patterns. That inspired us to start “Just for You” Baskets.
Since we live about an hour apart, we’re constantly on the phone collaborating on new baskets, ordering materials for each other, and talking with customers. We spend a number of weekends a year at local craft fairs and travel to basket guild shows to establish connections with supply vendors and learn new techniques from veteran basket artists.
We both work and spend most of our free time making baskets. Our husbands think we’re crazy, but without their support we wouldn’t be able to devote the time and resources it takes to fulfill our passion for basket weaving.
